Rosalie Siegel began painting in oil in her early teens at New York’s H.S. of Music and Art and continued throughout her college years, until the need to earn a serious living prevailed. Following college, she developed a career as a literary agent and consultant for foreign publishers.
Rosalie retired ten years ago and returned to painting. Her work is a reflection of her observation and joy in the natural world, her love of gardening and passion for flowers. She has always been foremost a colorist, inspired by the works of Monet, Bonard, and Matisse. Growing up with a family home on the South Fork of Long Island, she is additionally inspired by Cornelia Foss, Jane Freilicher, and Jane Wilson, whose work reflects a landscape she knows intimately and holds deep in her soul. After marrying she maintained her maiden name professionally, but began signing paintings with her three initials, RSW. She looks forward to the years ahead to continue painting and experimenting with color in her studio in Pennington, NJ.
